• Allow the user to own his / her data
• Don't collect unnecessary data
• Encrypt and hash
• Avoid linking together information (especially sensitive)
• Don't trust third-party tools to respect your user's privacy
• Allow users to sign up without submitting their real name, email address or other personal information
